I am SO happy to finally get to debut this piece. I made it for APE 2012 and wanted it to be a show exclusive. But now, the show’s over so here it is. If you can’t tell who or what this is of, give it a second. Think. Percolate. Ruminate. It’s SAILOR MOON!!! Well, it’s the Sailor Scouts, but I named it for the tv show. I won’t deny that I watched this show (hardcore) during my childhood, and drew these girls nonstop. All my little girlfriends in the third grade and I would discuss episodes and draw little anime people. Cute, right?
I wanted to grunge up the girls a bit. The show is very saccharine and sweet and playful - which is fantastic, but as with anything I do, I have to add something else. Reinterpret things, make it mine. Not that reinterpreting this series is new, it’s been done to death. I always had a soft spot for Mars and Jupiter: one being super bitchy and hot headed, and the other being really athletic and hardcore. Both of them were far from boring, and you can see why I featured them so prominently (Mars may be my favorite in this piece). I only watched the series before the additions of other scouts, so I’m not as familiar with them. Either way I hope you enjoy the piece. It was a big hit at the con. It will be going up on my store in two sizes within the week :).
i will never be the same
At what point did giving a 14-year-old the power to destroy the Earth seem like a GOOD PLAN?
I made this tumble-size for y’all. It looses a lot of its epicness with the size shrinkage, but… I think this is a good reaction gif, nonetheless. XD
Prime Passion - by Silas Zee
Starring: Sailor Moon & Optimus Prime
Felt like re-posting this, because reasons.
A friend of mine asked me to doodle things she could stick on her guitar whenever we see each other, and, being that we’re both Sailor Moon fans, this is my first contribution. No watermarks because I’m trusting you guys (also, because I’m laaaazy).
The text reads: “one day my prince will come - so I can save his ass”
Can this be made for a t-shirt?
ok let’s just all take a moment to appreciate the FUCK out of beryl warrior queen
WOAH WOAH WOAH- Um. HOLY SWORD?
More or less.
“And this was the Prayer Room, where only the Queen could enter… This was the center of the castle where the pillar or prayer, the Crystal Tower, once stood…”
You see Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus all try their hand at pulling the sword. Jupiter and Venus are even pulling on it simultaneously! In the end, only when Venus, the leader of the Princess’s guardian scouts, tries to lift it alone does it come free of the floor of this holy center of what was once the Moon Kingdom. It’s a very Arthurian moment.
Afterward they examine the sword, finding it to be made of a poisonous black stone capable of chipping diamonds. The guardian scouts decide to leave the sword in Venus’s possession.
When the sword is used later against Beryl, Venus is the one able to summon it to the scene of the battle, indicating (by Sailor Moon battle standards) that it is rightfully her weapon. Jupiter uses it very briefly to cut Beryl’s hair from choking Moon when Venus hesitates to strike so close to Usagi. The sword immediately returns to Venus, and she uses it to slay Beryl. The now purified/revived(?) holy sword, changing from the poisonous black stone to a crystal similar to the Silver Imperium Crystal, resonates with Venus allowing her to understand it’s true nature as an echo/shard of the Silver Crystal and to read the method of sealing Metalia.
Okay, now I’m done.
I like swords, so I paid attention to this one, okay?
Of course, Usagi/Sailor Moon has used it too, but usually to kill herself and/or Endymion.
Depending on the variant canon/translation you read, this sword has been called:
- Holy Blade
- Holy Blade/Sword of the Silver Crystal
- Sword of the Silver Imperium Crystal
- Legendary Sword (PGSM)
And it never showed up in the manga again (I think). *pouts*
The sword appears again (chapter 13) when Venus uses the sword in conjunction with all four guardian scouts’ transformation pens to channel their power and life energy to Moon while attempting to awaken Sailor Moon and destroy/seal Metallia.
The last known appearance of the sword (in the manga) was the scene of the Senshi’s death (chapter 14) in the process of defeating Metallia. The girls are revived by Sailor Moon (and arguably Queen Serenity) later that same chapter, but the sword seems to have disappeared from then on.
Feel free to correct me if it was used again and I missed it.
Somebody make it happen.
Oh. That would be priceless.
And then in La Reconquista…
This is gonna kill me when I get around to watching it, isn’t it?
PRINCESSES WITH SWORDS
I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW
They made this musical for me, didn’t they?
